Re: BX brake pad question

Apart from EBC I Don't recognise the names of those manufacturers, are they southern hemisphere brands? In UK the big brands like Ferodo, Mintex and Textar all list the proper no offset pads for BX, allthough it is getting harder to get them sometimes if you are fussy on make. The others may be cros...

Sorry to hijack this as I'm not a racer! but I have few questions: Whereabouts can you get genuine bendix front pads from? as I've allways preffered them but last time I chased around nobody seemed to have any. Also interesting to see your notes on tyres/ rear end bias as the best (most predicteable...

Not sure if you still need any bits but I definately have the glovebox and plenty of plastic bits from the scrapper. Even got some spare bumpers if you get desperate!

Still about and still have 3 Bxs! Am using a 1.4 every day and even started fitting a few basic 16v bits to it this week..... Check the site for activity regularly but I fall into the category of 30 something with kids so have far less time to mess about than I did. Kind of agree with the idea of co...

It is that one, looks better in the photo than real life! allthough it is very straight there is some odd corrosion around the rear arches but i'll be putting the 16v ones on anyway to get the clearance - its not as though I don't have enough bits..... The idea of less crap to go wrong really...

Still alive!

Me, not the car! Not strictly true as the 16v still goes, but a Friend ran it out of water so not keen to do anything with it, Especially as the diesel saloon just passed another mot for 23 quid on strut returns.... More importantly I've just bought another bx, a 1988 preview 1.4 no sun roof, abs, e...

just to add my two pennys worth, One important consideration on the abs ones is its easier to recon an arm with a working ABS sensor so as no need to disturb the rusted in bit! I've only ever found 1 shim inside the countless BX arms I've done I think its usually set to account for machineing differ...

I'm not million miles from shrewsbury if you want it fixed at a sensible price - that list doesn't sound out of the ordinary or onerous! only scary at london prices....

The standard 505 is a very tough car, just look at any picture of an african war zone! no idea about the turbo ones but very cool. If youre planning on using it in the snow how well do they cope with being rear drive? I'd be more inclined to use a 205 or 309 diesel in the snow as they have plenty of...

Have the tool and brass unions for kunifer so you could just measure the length and I'll make a length- that won't corrode!

I guess were just spoilt for parts supply here , i can have virtually anything service withinn the hour here, inc rear pads around a atenner or arm kits for less than the carriage alone on the arms! But then if its rare then I would prob go to the same lengths to get the bits that you do, i know I d...

whether they fit or not is largely irrelevant as they use the same bearings anyway and its exactly the same job to change bearings or an arm pads for a bx are dirt dirt cheap as well and rarely wear out so unless youre doing 20k a year for 5 years with a boot full of tools it is also irrelevant! how...

leave the screw in and pull a hose off to drain? If you want to remove it thenremoving rad is easy, just loosen all hose clips, unplug the fan wiring, and remove the row of 10mm headed bolts that hold the black plastic top cover in place - its the one with the bonet stay holding clip moulded in and ...

never machined a set of arms ever! worst case the outer seal area might be a bit mullered in which case you have 2 choices, use some chemical metal on the back of the seal to fill any gap -as it doesn't do anything. Or just fill it all with grease! arm bearings all last the same length of time regar...
