I opened the cover and checked both timing and tension. Timing was a little bit off, RH tensioner was too tight and LH a little bit loose. When I started the engine, the sound seems to be disappeared. Maybe it was caused by too loose belt. Unfortunately I also tried to fix leaking cam cover, which w...

Too tight accelerator cable was causing the idling problem. When cover moved even a bit, it prevented TPS to close. Cable routing is so tight, that engine movement cause drag to cable cover. I loosen the cable and hopefully problem is now solved.

It seems that 1265 is also referred to faulty check engine lamp, which makes sense. I was using LED and the current is much lower than ordinary 1.2W bulb. :D Idling problem is still unsolved.

Noisy timing belt cover

When engine is cold, timing belt cover is very noisy. It sounds like a drum, when you knock it with fingers. Timing belt or camshaft sprocket rubs to cover and the sound is amplified by the cover. Rubbing stops after a while. Cover makes engine sound ugly. Should there be any dampening material some...

Fault codes and idling problem

I read fault codes from ecu. It gave 65, CID circuit, which is not present in my mk1 valver. Any idea/knowledge what it might be? The idling problem is high revs when warm. It runs about 1200 rpm. In warming period it seems to run more close to the correct value. I changed the temperature sensor, bu...

Gear selector backslash

I started to fix my valver gear selector mechanism (BE1). It is a little bit loose in sideways, stick doesn't centralize itself between 3rd and 4th properly as my other BX (non valver Gti with BE3). Otherwise gears works ok. I dismantled selector rods totally and was suprised when I found a needle b...

and the funny thing is that only Bosch modules made in Germany are ok. Modules made in USA are not even the part number is the same. Or was it vice versa. I have heard that this issue concerns also other Citroen models (for example XM). Maybe it is some kind of impedance mismatch.

From the Motronic 4.1 factory guide from downloads I found RP number 96011361 but it either doesn't give nothing from Google. I suppose that this kind of relay is not so uncommon and used in many vehicles. The only speciality is the diode inside the relay.

Fuel injector relay replacement

I had a problem with my mk1 valver. It refused to fire up and I located the problem to fuel injector relay. I open it and resolder all joints on the board. This solved the problem. BTW. in the test drive it ran better than ever before. Very powerful and fast like a bullet. :D Or I just imagine it, b...
