Re: Wont Idle when HOT

Issue after wiring change AND 4 months standing, and something that completely flattened the battery to 2v. Earth point on the body is completely renewed, cleaned, vaselined, multiple replacement connectors for heavily corroded ones. Earths on the fuel rail also cleaned up. The ignition loom was swa...

Re: Wont Idle when HOT

Well, its not the mechanics of the ICSV, its opening and closing quite happily when 12v is applied;

Re: Wont Idle when HOT

So, i'm thinking somewhere between an air leak after the AFS or the ISCV. The ISCV is an original one, Bosch, two wire. So its just a plain voltage on one side, and ground out through the ECU to excite the solenoid and open/close the valve to give the bypass around the throttle when at idle. I seem ...

Wont Idle when HOT

A conundrum for you. Car drives, generally pulls like a train but hunts around like a baddun at 1800rpm (all gears). Idles okay when cold, actually idles quite nicely. But it won't idle when hot. Specifically revs will drop to about 600rpm (indicated) and the battery low light will flash, then somet...

Re: Citroen Centenary - 31st May to 2nd June

After an epic amount of under side work (sill ends, TRE, drop links, service, various unseen bits of body work) followed by an epic clean (machine cut, polished, interior bathed, cleaned and treated) all with the specific intent of going to the Centenary, I only got 6 miles! Re: Crank sensor location

Don't worry about the costs, they sort themselves. It is a good point though, I've seen 3 valves crawl out of the woodwork on eBay in the last month. There is certainly a trend for getting them back on the road. Even DanB resurfaced. Maybe your right, longer term it might pick up. Either way, like t...

Re: Crank sensor location

That sounds very promising!

I have been loosely following on the BXC, its a little bit more frequented than this ghost town, although neither forum is a touch on the Facebook BXC group. I'll just keep propping this place up until I see sense!

Re: Crank sensor location

Its pointing at the teeth on the fly wheel and mounted onto the gearbox. I think its mounted further back than under the ignition coil, under the HP pump. Seem to think its a bit of an arse to get to, albeit straight forward.

Re: mk 1 16v fuel pump question

I've recently been educated that valver pumps only run when cranking out running. Confirmed by physical test on the ph2 sat outside (in the rain).

Can you put one of the see through filters in to give you a better idea of flow and content? Maybe there is air being drawn into the lines?

Citroen Centenary - 31st May to 2nd June

https://www.citroencentenary.org.uk/

Part of the reason for getting my valver back on the road is in order to attend the Citroen Centenary at Coombe Park (Coventry, M6 J2). I'm likely to only be going on the Saturday.

Anybody else fancy it?

Re: mk 1 16v fuel pump question

I think, and I'm afraid I'm no expert, that it primes when on ignition by running for a fixed time period (3s) then stops. On crank the pump doesn't start again until the ECU sees the engine running but I'm not sure of the criteria for this. EDIT I've recently learned this is a load of horse manure ...
