Crap running! Again (And cured)

Grey shed running nicely as previously reported untill yesterday, when it started running on 3 cyls under load, which was most of the time as I was bringing the trailer up the motorway! Whipped injector leads off to identify cylinder, No4, whip out plugs all Clean and non fouled, but look a little r...

At the youthfull age of 27 now (? I think) it werent much different to now except that a gas powered berlingo figured quite highly, as did an LDV minibus, and about 4 land Rovers  The loss of parking space by marrying girlfriend helped me decide to sell a few of the above!

Agree heartily, best car weve ever had was a bx with 1.4 version! would rev to valve bounce in every gear, we threw it away at 178k and even then it would easily beat the Citroen posted 0-60 and top speed claims. took some serious abuse as both me and my brother learnt to drive in it, and I used to ...

Agree, theres nowt wrong with the 1600i, its the others lesser models that get the bad reputation! Nearly bought one when they were a few hundred quid..... went up in price, a few months later, argh Just sold my Bros 1.6 orion which he modded a bit, suprisingly nice to drive, and will out corner the...

Thats better

As mentioned before my 150k one drives worse than my 250K one which is anoying, more so after disturbing connectors whilst changing Clutch cable and engine mount! Well took 2 minutes to it yesterday and cleaned the two main connector blocks, the ign block and the airflow block - as suggested here - ...

Most importantly, those are very cool smileys!, and secondly keeping the brain alive is what its all about! after all the job won't do that or I wouldn't be on here so much  As for sensors looks like yours resets connection faults as soon as they remove themselves, though its pretty much the st...

Xsara drive unit sounds like a good idea, the biggest difficulty is whether the speedo unit can be separated out from the rest of the instruments on a Xsara, if not you'd have to use the whole pack! which is easy enough to wire, the hard bit is making a Blobby xsaa set look right in a squre cut BX! ...

As I understand it the sensors on a BX and most others don't have magnets, they are a coil which is energised, at a lowish level, in an unregulated circuit, therby creating a field around whatever is in front (and behind) if whatever is stationary it has no effect, and if its moving its changing res...

easiest access without lift is Rad out which only takes 10 or 20 minutes. but to test I usually do a voltage drop test. Multimeter on volts one end on centre pin of battery positive and use other probe on the actual terminal of the motor - not the connectors and then get someone to flick the key. On...

You obviously care about yours  Mine are allways out on loan, the only things I tell them are about the stop light and give them my mobile No! Out of sight out of mind and all that, if they break it, they pay, and I get free repairs Most get a shock in the first few miles then come back asking...

ABS warning on at 110

As per the title. On the way home yetserday thought I'd see what the freebie special would do, but why would the ABS light come on at speed? Normally they don't work cos of crappy rotor slots or dud connections, but at higher speeds the signal should be stronger, not weaker so why drop out? woorks n...

The very fact that you're here discussing the things tells me you want one!! go on do it you'll never look back,( except to see who you've left behind!) The rides not harsh for filming, still much better than lots of moderns and the economy difference isn't much, one benefit of the power is you don'...

Good stuff, the one with waxoyl, the cheap tetrasyl is the stuff of legend which hardens and peels! The secret tho is getting it all bone dry and dust/mud/old crap free, if in boubt get some thinned out normal waxotyl into the front seams first and then put the other on And let it DRY before driving...
