Sorted it today!!!!! what you need is a zx td starter as its got the 10 teeth we need instead of the 11 of the xantia td's! so anyway, after an hour and a half of removing varioius bits of the car and fighting others i have done the job and put it all back together! and she now starts properly! YAY!...

i used tetraseal from the local wholesalers at £7 for 5l, i know rob 'the underseal' hughes used a lot of hammerite and waxoil on the many he has done too! depends what you can get hold of i suppose! you wouldnt go wrong with waxoil!

the v6 isnt as heavy as youwould think!! after all its only 2 pot more than the mi and iirc weighs only a little more!!

normal m.i. conversions into 205's will use a reangled exhaust manifold leading to it looking like there is more room in there! but the205 engine bay is the smaller of the 3 without doubt! (hence why the std inlet on the m.i. sits under the slam panel on a 205!! and is tight on a 309 yet int he bx h...

it is possible by all accounts but have never seen one!! afaik the back of the block needs to be ground down to allow it to fit properly,
have seen a couple of v6 conversions done on 205's and 309's, the engine isnt that much heavier than the mi either,
would make a blinding conversion though!

according to some other info gathered most of the petrol engines share the same starter!! and petrol starters are .6hp wher as the deisel ones are 1.1hp so will have a greater turning potential! as long as the starter was bolted to a b.e. series cogbox then it will fit and as long as its got the 10 ...
