this shows up the problems you face when you paint up stuff without disassembling and cleaning first-that stuff looks great till you see where the paint stops, and the rust/crap begins. Would recommend pulling it apart and cleaning the crap out of all of it and repainting. Good news on the rust fron...

go to a fabrication shop/engineers an ask for some offcuts of 1-3mm steel. They should have buckets of the stuff. Grab some, read up, and get cracking!!!

angle grinder might be a bit big-try and get hold of a die grinder with a small cutting wheel, and then clean it up and prep it to protect metal...get it fixed as soon as possible-i powerfiled mine out,blew it clean, rust protected it then primed it before it went to the bodyshop to be repaired. I agree, the oil pressure gauge was dodgy new, let alone after 18 odd years!
Get another more reliable test, and chase the leak asap. I will sort a different, more reliable oil pressure gauge for mine once its built.

thanks to all for their input-i am gonna organise some Mk2 Xantia V6/HDi calipers,looks as though i can get cheap new parts through a guy on the fastfrogs forum, so thats all good. They're from a 1.6 model and it had run about 180.000KM's when I took em off. Brakes again...sorry!!!

So i know the Xantia V6 and wagon discs and calipers fit, but i have looked up and it SEEMS that XM ones have the same pad description and disc size...the reason i am doin this is because all these cars are rare over here, and am will to take what i can!!!Missed out on a V6 wrecking, but he wanted 9...
