Not just you, I just replaced my short one that broke with a nice long one. I didn't bother trimming the outer housing at all. It comes up behind the camgears around the head, along the fuel rail, out around the coolant reservoir and onto the throttle. Looks a bit naff but I don't care. The old one ...

I figured as much, but as always it's great to hear some personal experience, I hadn't realised all that was required to fit 7 inch wheels, but it seems likely.
