Thanks for the idea! Doesn't that make it a lot more loud though? My boy racer days are over.

(I suppose it would still be quieter than it is at the momet while it's blowing...)

exhaust downpipe

anyone got one hanging around? mine's developed a hefty crack where the pipe joins the first little box (is it called the 'resonator' or sommat? i.e. where the cat is in catted cars). ideally i'll want one of the ones with the fabled split, as the current one has it... or perhaps someone knows a goo...

Yup Simran's right: AFAIK no BXs had a switched 12v feed to the stereo. Also if you're a perfectionist be sure to wire the polarity of the speaker wires correctly.

The wiring diagram in Haynes is actually quite useful for stereo wiring, which makes a change.

thanks for all the advice guys. i filed a report at the police station and they explained they'll send a letter to all the potential culprits (all 2 of them) asking them if they were in the area at the time. i'm pretty sure it was the vauxhall. we'll take it from there... if no one bites then i'll g...

christmas eve hit and run

quick query. alas i was the victim of a minor hit and run while i was in the garden centre getting some last minute xmas presents. some doofus in a 4x4 backed into me and smashed the indicator, damaged the wing, cracked the priceless fibreglass front bumper, and broke the headlamp housing. fortunate...

fuss about nothing folks - i work in urban road safety and this is just a mooted idea for specific problem areas on narrow rural roads that through a quirk of history have a 60 mph limit when a 40 mph limit is much more appropriate - we're not talking about your archetypal 60 mph trunk road, so don'...

agreed. i don't come on here much any more but you can rest assured there's a well-loved (if little cleaned) 16v burning up and down the lower clapton road in east london. hopefully it'll keep going and keep me happy for a long time to come 8)
