Converting Hurricane into 16 Valve model

Folks, A bit of advice and/or suggestions please. Due to my 16 valver suffering from tinworm I've rebuilt a Hurricane model into a 16 valve version. All parts on this car are standard and the car has been inspected by the DVLA local office and the inspector has passed the car with no problems and th...

Luke, The website has changed to http://service.citroen.com and you need to register which is free. Depending upon what you want (I tend to use it to check for cost and availability of parts) you can still use it. I'm not sure about the payment side as I only use it for checking. It starts in French...

Mine's still running.

Use it as daily transport to work and going out weekends. May need a new head gasket but apart from that it's fine.

Flow Distributor

Nuts! Passed MOT but needs a flow distributor, fitted one leaks through end cap, power steering weak as a result. Anyone have a spare one?
Cheers.

Bought from dealer in the end, at least they're a stock item in the UK (but have to be ordered in from central location). Now for the MOT....

Thanks Vanny,

I've just rung GSF and they don't stock this any more. It's only £41 + VAT from Citroen..

And yes, you're quite right, they call it a 'baby' octopus as well.

Hydraulic return hose

Help!
Does anyone have a spare return hose; the one that comes from the flow distributor and height correctors? Mine's split where it joins the rubber manifold which joins to the reservoir. I believe this is not included as part of the octopus kit (at least it wasn't with the GSF one).
Cheers,
DG.

Least of my worries at the moment though, lack of big end and main bearings are the biggest issue (along with a crankshaft regrind). Sealant is in the post though...... :(

The replies probably explain why I've had trouble. Guess I've been lucky in hte past. I've found an address of a 'threebond' supplier over here. I'll give them a shout in the morning. Cheers!

Point taken. I've only done a couple of rebuilds. Curious though, the BX parts list (BX-PL.pdf) shows a gasket between the sump and spacer plate. I'll try cleaning it up thoroughly.

The sump is the alloy aircon sump. It's had a gasket between the spacer and sump since new. You're probably right about clean surfaces though; when the spacer was removed the oil had penetrated right through the sealant. The engine has been rebuilt and this is the only leak. Making a new gasket woul...

Sump Gaskets?

Folks,

Anyone else had trouble making the joint between the crankcase and spacer above the sump leakproof? I'm on my third attempt to seal this, have had no success so far, and was wondering if using a sump gasket rather that sealant (as recommended) would cure this?
Any ideas?

Cheers.

You can try mine if you like. It was working fine when last used. It's off a 1991 16V, don't know if it's the same but you're welcome to try.

I've got one 'abandoned' under cover at work which was salvaged off a 16V a couple of years ago. Believe it's still in good condition but getting it from London may be a bit of a pain.

No, they make the correct-sized ends with the pipe. New seals are supplied also.
