if it's a genuine bosch one (as the second auction one seems to be) you should be ok. the pattern 'intermotor' parts are duff - all the ones i've tried cut out at more than 2,500 rpm!

if it's got air con then it should already have 2 cooling fans fitted, but i may be getting confuzzled with the blower fans. there are plenty of bleed screws (5 i think) so don't forget them all - haynes describes the procedure pretty well. whenever i refill mine i always make a habit of bleeding it...

i agree with luke - don't worry too much if your system's in good order. after all, when i 1st got mine it had done 130,000 trouble-free miles with the original set-up - only one cooling fan to the side of the radiator and the original high temp cut-in switch, meaning in traffic the gauge was often ...

hehe he's a good mate, but on occasion seems to lack a little common sense. he's taken this in good humour anyway, because it's a joke amongst my friends how obsessive i am about the car! the 1st thing he did when he sat down in the driver's seat was yank the handbrake up with such force that the ca...

Am I being too anal??

This is accompanying the keys to my car when lending it to my mate next saturday (look out for a white 16v in cornwall...) anything i've missed?? I still can't believe i'm letting it out of my sight, still the experience should be good for me in the long run i guess (dealing with loss, etc!):...

phew, thankfully i've managed to get it booked in this week. thought i may as well have the MoT done as well while i was at it.

thanks for the tips Adrian - if only I had a drive and stands / jack in London I would tackle the job myself but alas all that stuff is in sleepy shropshire...

(cross posted on bxclub too) i'm lending the bx to a mate next saturday to take his girlfriend on holiday to cornwall (all booked and everything...). unfortunately while i was showing him the idiosyncracies of the beast today, the handbrake cable snapped! i don't have ...

Cheers! There's no rush for it, so are you happy to hold on to it for a bit?

mine did it for a while when the cambelt had just been replaced. after a while the noise lessned then disappeared - the sprockets had worn a new line in the soft plastic of the cover.

problem solved! 8)

mine definitely runs better on optimax compared to 95RON, and if this tesco stuff is even cheaper than optimax, it's gotta be worth a go. i've got the knock sensor (motronic M1.3 without cat) , which i think means the ECU can alter ignition timing to suit the grade of fuel, no?

my rough running only disappeared after i rebuilt my 150k engine! (don't worry i didn't rebuild it purely to cure the rough running, there were other reasons...) i did clean absolutely everything before i put it back together, so it was probably something like the throttle butterflies (which were di...
