There are 4 seals for plug holes and 3 IIRC for those bolts in between plug holes.

Also, while u are at it, change main seal as well (it's a bit expensive).

Design is not a problem up to certain torque, it's the fact they do not have any protection against water entering between gbox and TB, so rust is the enemy in most cases.

If You are interested in buying stronger shafts PM me, they are available, but they do not come cheap.

Thanks Ziga, Does anyone actually know the issue with transfer box splines and how fragile they are? Don't worry, they are strong enough, the reason they fail is cos the area between TB and gbox is not sealed in anyway, so water can get in and things start to rust...You know the story from here on....

Well yes, ideally You should take the engine out. The thing is, that in order to take the gearbox off You need to put the TB off, and to do that You need to take whole front sub frame off, ... so it's easier to just take the sub frame off, disconnect a few pipes and take the whole engine out, beside...
