The jury is still out but I think right now there is more against getting one. I know there are alternatives, I quite like the Focus ST. Also the Leon sounds pretty hot. There was something I liked about the CTR but with comments about the engiine needing high revs all the time it may not be the rig...

Hi, Thanks for your informative replies. They confirm what I thought really. The reason I have been looking is simply that I wanted what I thought would be a reliable car but also with a bit of umph if I wanted it. I think the only way to know if the power is OK low down would be to take a test driv...

Civic Type R
Been looking at these, sat in a nice black one today at the dealers. I would not pay their silly prices though. There seems to be a glut of them with the new model out. However, I have been reading reviews here and there. Consensus seems to be Can be noisy Not much good until thrashing them Power st...

Update.... After having the cold from hell since Sunday night and going through several Lem-sips and a box and a half of mansize tissues (on offer 99p in Boots), I went to the garage today, didn't touch anything. Just thought I would see if it started (last tried Saturday). Turned the key and presto...

Hi Timmo I read your post on the old forum about your problem with single plugs. I may well try putting the old dizzy back on. It worked fine, just looked a bit worn so thought I would replace it. I did take the Beru one off about the second time this happened. It looked ok, was dry inside and of co...

Bit of a starting issue
I have just been browsing the old forum for threads on starting problems. There are many, some quite worrying but I do not think I have a severe issue. About 6 weeks ago the car started but ran roughly as if missing on one cylinder. I put this down to condensation as my bike did the same. A bit of w...

Re: oil
You can't beat GSF for the Total Quartz fully synth 5w40 or 10w40 for the valver. You can get 10% off the oil as well at GSF with a discount card :D Cheers Luke Hi Luke, I will get Total as you suggest for the valver, it is worth putting a really good oil in. Yesterday I bought Magnatec Diesel 10/4...

Funny you mention this....I've used Fuchs in the valver last time around and I swear its louder than it used to be! Just picked up some Total 10w40 from GSF so I'll do a change with that soon. Maybe that is the case then. To be honest, I have not driven the 16v much at all recenlty  so cannot...

Recommend an Oil
Looking to change the oil shortly in both the 16v and the td. I used to use Castrol Magnatec 10/40 for ages and had no problems at all in any BX. I then changed to Fuchs Titan xtr 10/40. Whilst this again has caused no issues,I am not sure if the TD is a tad noisier. Just interested to know what eve...

After all the suggestions bit late in the day now but this is what I do (or did) Obtained a long thin bolt and matching nut. The bolt has to fit inside the pin of course. I ground down the nut so it would just fit inside the hinges but not inside the pins. When in place take a good length (about a f...
