Sure you may get a little more power with a large ram intake fitted, but your standard fuel injectors and ECU will still cope fine. A better idea is fit a nitrous kit, then you will get a real power increase. I know I have said it before, but if you think the car is too slow, are you sure it is work...

the throw on the gear shift 1-2 is somewhat ponderous on the BX. The BX was not really designed to be a sports car, so does not have a sports-car-like shift. I agree worn synchros seem unlikely on a lowish milage box, mine are fine after 123,000 I had a 16VBX which had only done 1/2 that mileage, an...

yes, there is no reason to change the injectors unless you really seriously modify the engine, like adding a supercharger.

To get more power, you need to get more air in. Just adding more fuel wont help.

Yeah- that woolly pipe thing is falling apart on my car too. I have patched it up in the past with some fibreglass and resin, perhaps I should cover the whole thing in this then it will stay in one piece. Sounds to me like you car is running at the right temperature Simran. As I live on the top of a...

Hi Timmo,

The whole thing would be ideal.

Your idea is worth considering,so I will have a look at the breakers at other cars metal pipes. The 3 way join is the bit where mine is split, the rest is OK.

Incidently,

I have it on good authority that the displaced gears from the BX16V fit the BX8V and give that car a suitably high 5th gear too.

5th gear swap

As others have mentioned, I swapped my 5th gear cog pair for that from a turbo D. This gives 23mph per 1000 rpm instead of 20mph per 1000 rpm. The gap between 4th and 5th is not a problem, for a road car, the cog swap is a far easier solution for reasonable engine rpm at motorway speeds, and no modi...

You can get them made up specially, like I am with the pipe in the posting below. These 2 pipes you need are simple though, so will not cost too much to have made. I expect there is somewhere in Portugal that will do them for you. You will have to send them your old pipes so they can get the shape r...

I have a mirror here somewhere, £10 plus postage if you need it. Not sure if it is heated, but it is electric and you don't really need a heater in it anyway. Rear bumper bracket- bolt a short length of angle iron on to support the pipe. Put a bolt through it for the rubber hanger. Are you sure it i...

'Fitted and tested' so I suppose they swap the IC and start the engine. Big deal. What you want is a dyno plot before and afterwards, that would be tested properly. As Vanny says, you may have no idea where the mapping has come from unless you buy from a reputable source. I expect most ebay 'chips' ...

I use Morris Lubricants 10w40 semi synthetic.

Its made in England too !

(just like marmalade, Japanese cars and, er, probably something else as well )

It works very well and is well priced, especially if you buy it in 25 litre drums.

I suppose there are actually so few kit cars and new cars fitted with old engines that a simple 'test according to the engine's age' is a sensible and workable principle.

A full set may be an option, though I haven't discussed this as I only need the one pipe. I expect most of the hoses are the same as on the 205 conversions so those will be off the shelf. But any pipes that are not already made will have the minimum order just like the lower rad hose. I suggest you ...
