Just to add to the confusion, I brought a front pipe off EBay new/old stock, which is marked BOSAL but is completely devoid of splitter.

But at £38 inc postage it'll get me mobile until I can source a better pipe.

Doc, what do you mean 'fluting'?
I have a vauge memory of one of my BXs having a resonator that looked a bit like someone had been at it with a giant pair of crimpers, but the others looked pretty regular.

Trust me on this, I wouldn't stick my neck out this far without evidence!! Give your bx a bucket load more grip under braking with some proper wheels and rubber, stand on the brakes four times a minute as hard as the front tyres will take, then see if they keep up. Much as I respect Gary and Rene's...

I never got around to shoving the Green Hornet on ebay as an organ donor, so she's still available to the terminally colour-blind  http://www.area51a.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/BX/GreenHornet_s.jpg She's an 89 G plate with 69300 miles on the clock, best I can tell that's genuine. No TAX, & MOT ra...

UK Govt response to "Classic Cars" e-petition

A while back there was a bit of a hoohah over fears the Government were going to ban or restrict use of Classic Cars (Older than 10 years) I think I may have got the original link from here. Anyway, there was an online electronic petition raised on the No10 website, and they've recently responded. h...

Sorry for the delay in replying, it's parked up round my folks and I've been housebound for the last week. In reply to various questions - it's red, tax & MOT are out because my sister got an attack of sensible and brought a Ford Focus, then shook off the sensible and traded the Ford in for a Ma...

Nissan SX200 anyone?

My sister's got an early SX200 to get rid of. It's the 160bhp model with the pop-up headlights (S13 model I believe). No Tax or MOT, mileage is believed to be 70-80k, the odometer is a bit intermittent.

Anyone interested?

I liked the wheels and the colour, wasnt impressed by the bodykit.

It's a shame that someone has put a lot of time, effort, money and skill into something that a lot of people think just looks bloody stupid.

In a similar vein, I had some trials and tribulations with my Seat Leon diesel recently resulting in me replacing the sump and turbo. The reccomended proceedure for restarting after a turbo-off is to crank the car over (but not start it) until you get oil coming out of the turbo return and ideally t...

Aw heck, the Green Hornet may have to reliquish her position as oddest colour BX in Europe (though I think the Worst Paint Job Applied Without Aid of Paint Brushes or Converted Vacuum Cleaner award is still mine). Ford Purple Velvet I beleive, last seen on a Mk1 Escort 1600. I had my dad paint my Ra...

In true BX fashion - she passed MOT in the morning and I was back underneath fixing stuff by the afternoon! Bled the air from the rear brakes and took her out for a roadtest, which resulted in the low pressure return from the nearside caliper (I think) popping out of the connection under the gearbox...

Since the car's not in regular use, you could try and find a 'proper' radiator specialist to re-core the existing rad for you. I've had trouble with so called 'genuine' Ordanez rads from GSF in the past (my K plater had 3 in 3 years!) The only fix appeared to be to use demineralised water rather th...

Will a TD rad fit a 16v?

I suspect a bottle of Rad-Sealer isnt going to be a long term solution to my leaky rad, so I'm looking at replacing. It looks like the diesel rad is a lot bigger than the 16v model, and can probably be picked up from the breakers a lot easier than the 16v specific model. Will it fit though? And can ...

She passed!

Woohoo! Got an advisory on the front tyres (new ones have been waiting to be fitted for the last year), and the emissions figure needed a quick twirl of the screwdriver to get within limits, but other than that the green hornet is now MOTed, Insured and Taxed :D Now I just need to bleed the rear bra...
