Hi Timmo Was about to post up to say scratch the remote start point as I read it invalidates the cat 1 alarm approval, so that's a no brainer! I thought it might.... Probably makes alarm options slightly easier as not limited to those few that offer remote start for manual cars. Point duly noted on ...

Cheers guys The thing that puts me off Clifford is the fact the remotes have about 5 buttons  that'll confuse 'em no end! The remote start we can live without - but for those occasions when the car is parked in the garage or on the flat it would be quite nice to have the suspension up and run...

Check the rolling radius change before going to a smaller tyre - you might alter the gearing more than you think and the speedo can end up quite a bit out as a result. I seem to recall the ZX 16V was considered pretty hard riding when new, so I wouldn't go over 16" to retain some ride comfort. ...

I thought my p2 had been scrapped after it sold on ebay for beer tokens - then it appeared again recently! Reason it didn't show up on a DVLA taxation search is the owner had stuck a private plate on it, so the original showed up as not known  Model codes are applied when the car is 1st regis...

Alarm systems

OK folks - dad for reasons best known to himself decided to try and pull the old alarm system off the p1 today. When 'done' the car would spin on the starter motor but not fire. He's now put it back as it was and it's running again.... We've never had a remote fob for the alarm on there and it's not...

Hi mate - we need to catch up :D The DTM thing that the previous owner had on there was just one of those Halfords screw on covers - thankfully easily removed and the pipe is as you see it now. I know these Scorpion ones sit at an angle on exiting the bumper - hopefully won't stick out too far but p...

I don't know - although i have enough details of the DVLA model codes (these are specific to trim levels as well as model type) that I could potentially get the info from someone helpful.... I work in DfT but not directly with anyone at DVLA. I think in the past this info has been requested by vario...

I missed out on a full system some time back (with cross box) and been looking out for one ever since - wanted to get a custom system done but the old man balked at spending 250 quid on one! He went and bought a mild steel cross box which cost about 50 quid, which meant he was even less likely to go...

bit of bling for the p1 16V

Bought this off the bxclub forum: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y180/BX16VALVE/BX/P1010459.jpg Just the back box, but looks pretty much as new! Gave it a bit of a polish this evening: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y180/BX16VALVE/BX/P1010464.jpg I've only got a limited supply of Autosol so didn...

If they're available, go for a Goodyear F1 GSD3 - they should last well on a car that light. They should be as I've got the predecessor to these in 14" on the BX 16V wheels.

Otherwise stick to Michelin would be my advice on these.

bummer - but at least it's sorted!!

Sounds similar, but less obvious to what happened to our p1 - at least you didn't need a new head like we did!!

ours was probably inevitable due to a dodgy head casting, but lack of use and coolant changes won't have helped any

Only way to check is to pull the top cover off the belt and check whether all the cam timing pins will fit in their respective holes without any issues. One tooth is usually enough for valves to meet pistons, so it's doubtful it's that. You could try a compression test to see if it's missing most of...
