Technical Archive - Members Area

For those that still periodically check in on the forum, you may have noticed a new 'Technical Archive' in the 'Members Only' area. This hosts the 'Citroen BX Workshop Manual' segments that I have scanned to date, and maybe handy for newcomers to the BX, and those returning after a long absence from...

Re: Domain termination (.co.uk)

A reminder that bx16valve.co.uk will expire on 19/02/2021 Please update your links/bookmarks if you are still using that domain. As a note of nostalgia, we moved to the .co.uk domains when we lost the .com address. We were fortunate enough to be given the .com address back a few years back by one of...

I'm not a big car detailing (or even washing) fan, but when the filth builds up, I use Autobrite Purple Rain wheel cleaner. Rear more here;

The BX Project

During lockdown 1.0, I revived the BX Project and started blogging about all things cars again, may be of interest to some of the passers-by. I'll update this thread as I add specifically BX content. You can find the Blog here; https://bxproject.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/cropped-Banner_Y...

Re: BX cars in North America

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum. That looks like an incredibly clean example. How does it handle the Montreal roads? I've leather seats in my car, but they don't half get cold in the winter months. Very tempted to fit some heater elements. They also don't have the Recaro shape which I would really li...

Re: Who's on the road (or could be), who is Not?

I'm not too worried about mine getting wet/dirty, but I avoid taking the BX in the rain due to month long stopping distances and a lack of vision due to the floppy floppy wiper.

I wonder if it's something that could be made up by an engineering firm?

Re: Deflection Pulley/Tensioner for 16V

Fantastic question, the one I have for my car has a totally shot bearing.

I do wonder if it's possible to change just the bearing but I can't see a way to pull it apart.

Re: Wanted: LH Nearside 16v front wheel trim

Can't find another one. Luke might know where one is lying around.
3d printing is one option, but casting another out of polyester resin might be the easier method. Saves the huge cost for scanning!

Hmmm, I've got one on a wing. It's my only spare 🥺

Let me have an ask around, I might know where there is another.

Ultrasonic cleaner

Like most Valver owners, I've got a stock of spares. Having recently sheared a rear brake calliper nipple, I knew I was going to need to rebuild on of the old ones, but the filthy state of them was really putting me off. I figured it was time to go hardcore on the cleaning and order an Ultrasonic Cl...

Chrome paint pen for badges

Over on the BXClub Facebook page, someone suggested a Molotow liquid chrome paint pen for going over my badges on the back of the car. https://bxproject.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Chrome_01_wp.jpg The results are ace! I know its not the original factory white, but on this test part, it lo...

Re: Who's on the road (or could be), who is Not?

My understanding is that yhe structure of LHM is long chains. With age the chains get broken up, making the fluid thinner. Hence new LHM always performs better than broken up old LHM. But if I read that right Timmo, once you cleaned the system out with hydraflush, you put the old LHM back in and out...

Re: Who's on the road (or could be), who is Not?

You have that "Hydraurinçage" in then, need to cover a few miles for that to do it's thing, + - 1000 or so? Very much depends who you speak to! Pleides, who i bought it from a loooong time ago, used to run a car (possibly a yellow GSA) ONLY on the hydraflush they sell/sold. Its not the To...

Re: Who's on the road (or could be), who is Not?

Well the car came back from the garage yesterday. Repiped front to rear, 4 new tyres, an MOT. It's taxed and insured. It had new front ebc pads and discs, new pattern hand brake cables before it went in. It's on hydraflush too. It actually stops reasonably sharp now. There is a slight delay, somewhe...
