My main concern would be whether it has/needs a cat due to the age of the car?

Ahhhh, the benefits of TIGging it... (well certainly looks like a TIG torch).

Nice job though! Oddly, of all the BX's i've had over the years i've never had one with that part rusted out (touch wood).

Some have knock sensors and no cats and remain 160bhp (like mine).

There are only 2 options, the original D6C (160bhp) which has the benefit of no catalytic converter and more power. Then there's the DFW (153bhp), fitted with the cat (which is a legal requirement in some countries), it also has lower compression and the ML4.1 EMS incorporates a knock sensor, one of...

If nothing else, XU9J4 block is alloy, the rest are steel and 16v compression is higher due to different pistons so the EMS won't function correctly and your pistons will hit the valves! So, it can't be done without changing the pistons and then, to be honest, you wouldn't want to!

Exactly why mine shall remain in the garage costing me £500 a year in rent til i get the damn thing done! I'll either finally get to drive it again some day or i'll have it as my coffin (perhaps i'll get to combine the two?) but i'll NEVER sell it!

Ok, not the Valver (which has done a massive 14 miles in the last 4 years - all on the end of a tow rope) but the TD has done a faultless 20k in 10 months... Well, faultless until the cam snapped - twice!

BX's, of all guises... You gotta love 'em!

I think you're just lucky that over there you're only just now having to replace them! Over here it must just be the sh*t weather helping to wear them that means we've all got it down to a days work (including tea breaks  ) to do the swap & bearings  Gets easier after your 6th set :l...

No amount of signatures will change this... The exemption was a nice idea at the time but even the fact they still allow the current system to continue goes well against the "environmental" needs of today. The government can't be seen to be encouraging us to keep old smelly fume pumping ba...

H778KMO is most certainly dead.

Last seen at Aldershot Car Spares (breakers yard) 4 or 5 years ago.

The only known surviving parts being the O/S/R door handle on G16VBX the spare HP pump in my garage and the passenger head-rest Doc has in his motor...

The circle of life my friends...

Queens Heads! that amounts to treason does it not!?? Probably  Availability is the problem... you can have one now, but you'll have to wait 'til William is crowned for another. Alternatively, if Charles does make the throne i'll have to raise you a Princess Consort as a sub 'til Kate gets her ...
