Mega mileage 16V - but looks like it has air con!

Post by Adrian E »

Folks

Now this is mega miles  195,000 on the clock, although 125k was done in first 4 years!

Looks straight and care ful examination of the pics will reveal what appears to be the recirculate slider for the air-con system. Almost certainly doesn't work, otherwise I'm sure they'd have mentioned it, but if it's all there it can be fixed.

Don't think it's worth the buy it now price but depending on condition could be worth £500-600 I would think.

Colour coded wing mirrors - I like.
Front lower spoiler on P2 bumper - I like.
Front fog lights - I don't like :?

It has indeed got aircon, I've asked whether or not it works to the seller.

Could have original rear headrests :?:

Mileage is high but depending on extent of rebuild 20k miles ago could be a smooth non-smoker.

I can't get this image out of my head of the Arabian embassy stonking about in a Bx16v

I also never realised they were a limited edition

looking at the rear it looks like the light clusters are two different tints. The O/S is red tinted which would be correct for this car, an the near side is green tinted.

I't might be an interesting second car IF it goes for very very little :D

LOL As I thought then really, maybe to the seller thinks the rear head rests and air-con makes it a "limited edition".

I have not seen aircon without leather before in a BX,

perhaps someone has pinched the leather interior already.

I have - I've seen plenty with one or the other, but since as options they were a similar price (IIRC North of £1k) people tended to opt for whatever they preferred. Only seen a couple in use that had both as standard, many seem to have had the leather added later

I stand corrected- certainly the leather travels around as it outlasts the rest of the car.

What a shame air-con isn't as straight a swap as leather

I know which I'd prefer in a car!

Other factor is of course that the leather doesn't have to have been in a 16V to start with, whereas parts of the air-con system are specific, so even more hassle trying to swap air from an 8V to a 16V and far more examples possibly fitted with leather in the first place.

I did once see an air-con'd 8V GTI in a scrap yard with all the bits in place - had a minor front end prang so wasn't economically repairable. Often wish I'd looked into pulling the bits off it :?
