E-bay seller:
"the starting bid is a steal and there is no reserve so grab a bargain."

A steal? Bargain? It's been out of the car for 18months, the vendor recommends a full rebuild before fitting and £225 is a steal?
Me thinks I'll pass...... :D

Was taken out of the car 18 month ago and . . . . stored at the bottom of the ocean! Dont think i'd even bother with a rebuild on that, looks a bit far gone for the money.

You will be suprisd at how much the parts from that engine are worth to 205 people.

I have seen the blocks alone fetch over £30 then the alloy sump,if it has one, etc soon add up.

This was my point in the members area these engines are very desireable even as rebuild or parts projects.
Even the flywheels fetch good money

Fact is they are a superb engine and in short supply.

I duno about that Luke, I cant give my spare 16v lump away! Hence it's sat in the back yard rapidly starting to look like the engine on E-bay.....

Supply and demand I guess, in 20 years time when they are rarer than hens teeth I'll probly be able to sell it for £4000 (seized as well probably) but right now.......

I could get that sold for you within days

Pop it on the 205gtichavs forum.......or was it 205gtiDRIVERS?

Either way it'll go there no problem.

That is exactly right, if you want rid of a 16v lump whole or as spares you can get rid of it within a day usually within the right circles.

It has 169k on it!
Ran fine but I'd rather power sand my own backside then sell it to a 205 owner.........

Ah that'll be why ypu still have it then.

BX 16v owners rarely need an engine. In fact in the last two years I think the only person who have killed their engine was....erm, me.
If they did they wouldn't be willing to pay the money the 205 brigade pay either.

What about the 405 Mi16 forum, or 309 GTi forum? Both cars which aren't chavvy and both cars which had the engines in originally.

When the 250k one packs up I'm tempted to put a set of wrong clocks in saying rather less and sell it for a 205....... might even get good money for it

I would actually say £225 with the modified intake manifold and a full loom is actually quite a good price. It doesn't take much to pull it to bits and change the seals over etc.
