Air intake pipe from back of radiator to air filter

Post by pete crane »

Hi everyone, just washing and checking over my daily driven 16valver when I realised that my air intake pipe behind the radiator has disintegrated. Anybody got a new one for sale or know where I can get one ? Cheers - Pete
awaiting return of my beloved BX 16V from professional restoration due back spring 2012. Looking for mint 1990 drivers seat in the stripey white and black pattern to replace mine which is looking slightly worn after 140k miles of me sitting in it.

fan ducting hose from B+Q is possibly the best bet i should imagine. It DOES make a difference, but they are difficult to find second hand (as they perish away) and i'm not sure they can still be bought from Citroen.

Hi Vanny, thanks for your advice, I did have some air intake trunking from other cars laying around, but the end that fits over the radiator bracket was quite a complex shape and hard to fit in the space available - hence asking what other people thought about it. I will try my local Citroen dealer just in case they can get one.

Our pubmeet is on next Wednesday if you are free, let me know if you are and I will go in the BX just for you !

Cheers,

Pete

Is this the steel braided pipe that goes from the radiator to the bottom connection on the air box assembly :?:

Sounds like it Mike - bit like the U bend on a loo!!

I bought a new one from the main dealer, but that was probably 4 years ago  Had to be shipped from France so wouldn't surprise me if it's no longer available.

Worth a try though :D

Adrian,

I was going to make a smug post if that is the bit that Pete is looking for :D

Your P1 should be the same as mine and have a hard plastic double elbow pipe rather than a braided hose that falls apart over time :?:

If so, 1:0 to the Phase 1s

yeah i was thinking of the phase 2 type. I've seen similar to the ph1 fitted on some diesels, and i think i might have one in the garage which would be good if it fits as i know mine doesn't appreciate sucking hot air in!

Pete, will send you a PM.

Yes please Jez :D that looks like it should fit my P2 if that's the radiator end that you're holding.

Air inlet pipe

Post by pete crane »

 Big thanks to you all for your thoughts on my problem, it has led to me getting a solid pipe from Jez which should last a bit better than the flexible type which I have been using - and which seem to disintegrate after a few years.

Cheers, Pete
