Due to not having much success in locating a 16v bx I have just purchased the next best thing , a 16v zx which is a 1995 N it's only had one lady owner from new and has every bill & receipt from new including original purchase invoice , it's got the full black leather interior , electric sunroof and surprisingly air con too , other than a small dint on the leading edge of the bonnet and a few stone chips it is absoluty mint , will keep on using this forum as I am a massive Citroën fan also having a dispatch van too , hoping to get the zx looking better with a good polish , thanks for Reading , Mark

Yes I think I was very lucky with this one I found it on the autotrader website of all places and it sounded too good to miss , so I had a trip to the wirrall on Wednesday after work ( 6am start and got back home to Sheffield at 8pm ) but it was well worth it , the car has got every bill from new including original purchase invoice , genuine Citroen mats and original number plates , I still can't believe I found one this nice , It is most certainly a very long term keeper , which seems quite reasonable when compared to similar hot hatches , astra gsi , escort rs2000 ,etc none of which come close to the zx or even the bx either , previously owning four 16v bx's which are a very much underrated hatch in their day , I will try to get some pics posted soon it's just that I'm not too hot with computers and acces the net on my iPod/phone , thanks , Mark

they also share the same chassis as the gti-6 which really annoys the pug owners lol! onoy the 16v's had the passive rear steering though,

as mike said, we defo need pictures!!!!!

Thanks for the comments , I still can't beleive I found one this clean , I have just totted all the receipts and service bills up and they add up to £6600 , It needs the bonnet painting due to a very small dent on the front and some stone chips , and the tailgate has a few minor scratches , nothing major for a car this age , I am very fortunate too in that a friend of mine used to work at a Citroën dealer then at a specialist and he knows these cars inside out so it will want for nothing , i will be taking it to a few shows next year too , I will try to get some pics posted but I am only accessing the site on my iPod/phone , alternativly if you post me your mobile number I can SMS some , thanks again , Mark

dont get it painted- if the paint isnt damaged, use areliable 'dent magician'...i got quoted big $$$ to have my new V6 Xantia's nose redone, then this guy came round, made it 99% mint, and charged me $80NZD cash! highly recommend. look up paintless dent removal of somesuch!
Would rather be driving ONE 16v,than fixng TWO.

I'm guessing it's this one?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

At least until the ad disappears can wet your appetite for pics!

Looks a very nice original one - the dark green paint has probably helped save it from the chav-set!

Leather is not a common option on these either, so that and air-con together are extremely unusual.

Check the rear subframe bushes are OK (and genuine Citroen) as it makes a massive difference to how well they drive.

The lump is the same as the 306 S16, so a bit lower powered than the GTi-6 and Xsara VTS, but in a way lighter car so not really an issue. Only running faults are usually linked to coil packs, but there's loads of info on Pug forums for those.

Think even the exhaust is original? They look much better with a fatter round tailpipe to fill the hole better - once that one gets a hole in it a stainless replacement will be the way to go, as pretty sure the original tailboxes are no longer available.

A wise choice that :D

That's the one Adrian , glad you got some pics up as I am not able to at th minute , she's had the subframe bushes done in 2006 , it does feel very tight to drive there's just a few issues to sortout , I have a feeling the discs & pads are ready to be changed and a couple of new tyres on the front ( 195/55/15 ) it would look nice with some 17" on but I want to keep it as original as I can , I also want to replace the plug leads fit new handbrake cables and get my Citroën mechanic to go over it. I have managed to get an agreed classic car policy with a mileage limit of 5000k for £270 which doesn't seem too bad considering the car is in grp15 I think , I will be going to some shows next year too which I can't wait for , I'll keep posting any ongoing work etc if you don't mind as the Zxnet forum is a little on the quiet side , ps I would still love a bx but I think my wife would kill me as this was a surprise as I saw the car on the web on tuesady night and by Wednesday afternoon it was mine and she didn't know about it , all the best, Mark , the cars just had a new back box for the mot , I think they did well to find one too , but the stainless one is a definate possibility as I have previously had one custom made for a fiat doblo 1.9jtd van I used to have and it made a massive difference to that ,

Thanks for the comments guys , she is a very nice one , just spent some time this afternoon giving here a bit of a clean , and when I have time I will give her a full detail , de-tar , clay bar , machine polish etc . In my search I came across four on pistonheads 1xwhite and 3xgreen but two of them required work and the other two were too far to travel , one was at Southend for £750 and sounded quite a nice one with a lot of money spent by the current owner of five years , not a bad price really . One of the others required an engine mounting and various bits but was only around the £450/500 mark , the one at £750 is still for sale if anyones interested , Mark

Only 16v's had passive rear steering? You sure lol?
Underrated cars, handling the best of any hot hatch i've driven. The GTI-6 powered ones were LHD only and not sold here. They were called the Dakar after the back to back Paris-Dakar wins and had Xsara VTS wheels and brakes.

Our 1.8 Furio had rear wheel steer - they all did - it's called flexi bushes in the rear subframe lol not quite Honda, but it worked and it was cheap to do

Just keeping you updated on the Zx , I have ordered some bits for it today from gsf/eurocarparts consisting of new plug leads , k&n replacement panel filter, a pair of new indicators ( 1 misted up and they were only about £6-50 each ) and a new passenger door mirror as the one that's on is not working correctly and has been repaired previously , price of a new electric mirror was £25 , I was also thinking of replacing the drivers side which is a manual control one as the plastic is a little faded but I will have a go at cleaning it up first and see how it looks , my Citroen mechanic friend is coming over on Saturday to service the car and have a look over it , will keep you posted with the progress , Mark
