Expansion Bottle - White

Post by frog »

I'm after a new(ish looking) coolant expansion bottle for a reasonable price as I'll need to get it to Australia too.. Mine looks like it's been filled with mud, although it does match the distributor cap nicely...

Any tips on restoring it to its original colour also welcome, though I assume thats not possible.

I have cleaned one before with engine cleaner and then wahing up liquid. This gets it clean but the plastic was obviously discoloured.
I then soaked it in strong bleach solution and this did reduce the discolouration to some degree.
Give it a go, what have you got to loose.

If you do need a replacement part, which washer is it for as they are handed due to the location of the pump that is mounted on them.

Hi Mike, I have another discoloured spare on a spare car. May as well have a crack. I'd still be interested in a NOS one if someone has one kicking about.
It's the coolant expansion tank not the washer bottle.

Cheers,
Chris.

So it is, I obviously wasn't awake properly yesterday.

I have done the same procedure on the coolant bottle.

Soak it in carb cleaner, then put it in the dishwasher at full pelt. Just don't tell your missus!
