SUSPENSION PIPES

Post by tim leech »

After my car disgraced herself at the CCC rally yesterday and popped a front to rear pipe I desperatly need to get the whole car repiped as mine are well past there sell by date, can anyone suggest anywhere to get it done and how much it will cost, Ive been told kunifer pipes are the best to use?

Thankfully some of the bxclub boys replaced the offending pipe to get me home, not on the back of the AA truck as I envisaged

I would say any local specialist will be able to do the job using Plaidies (sp?) pipes, or depending on the distance could go straight to them to have it done. Bare in mind other components may be identified that aren't in great nick so you may need to budget for things like height correctors, octopus etc while they're doing it.

Hopefully you'll have more luck than I first did. I got quoted £600-£700 by a local specialist who's usually very reasonable! I guess they just didn't wanna do it.

We repiped it with kunifer in the end.

i think your right though Kitch! they probably didnt want to do it!

Tim, are you getting all the pipes done underneath at the same time?? working on the basis that if ones going then maybe the others are just as bad??

Timmo, you've got to drop the rear subframe to do it properly! And its very very fiddly if you don't have a decent post lift. Kunifer is the way to go though.

I managed it Ok with 2 jacks, a few axle stands and the pit.

It is a fiddly job, and took me a long time.

I hear the kunifer pipes are easier to bend to shape than the normal steel pipes I used. At least the parts are cheap.

the worst part is getting little bits of dirt falling in your eyes.

A four post car lift would make the job much easier I am sure.

hi tim,
ir is pretty easy, just need a reel of copper piping some olive nuts and the pipe kit. custom make em to fit like i did!, making sure they are kept well away from danger zones.

cheers rossco
