Silver P2 on BBC News front page

Post by RichL »

The current photo stream on the BBC news page "Snowfall delays Christmas getaway" includes a pic of three blokes pushing a blue Mercedes across a snowy road (Pic 2/6)
And unless my eyes deceive me, the silver BX with a roof box in the background is a phase 2 16v.

Anyone on here?

Can't make out any skirts on it, could some snow be sitting on the hoop spoiler making it look like a whaletail?

Good spot but I think diesel not 16V:

The door bump strips look like the thin black ones and not the wider colour matched Phase 2 16V ones.

Can't see the rear arch extensions or side skirts

Or any front fogs

And most obviously, it's got a roofrack and box on it :!:

no ones, its been dead for a while, it first popped up i guess 5 or more years ago. The BBC are cheap skates, IF that pic was the car having its MOT done, then it was taken before 2000 as that Sauriau Diagnostic unit isn't suitable for MOT past that date.

I wonder if it died following the failure of that very MoT?

Unless i'm very much mistaken (and i doubt i am) that is H552 HVS, rear flaps & small GB on the nearside, was mine about 3 or 4 years ago and then went on to ?Michael? i think.

Was obviously taken before Mike acquired the car, I think, as when I bought it, the car had no mudflaps or GB roundel... Doesn't mean the car isn't HVS, of course!

ExValver, where does your ownership fit into the timeline? Do you have it now? Must be after me as i notice the 16valve badges are missing from the rear quarters.

I took the GB and flaps off when i bought it as they were fooked (along with the towbar). But the cracked n/s rear bumper that just about shows on your pic was already there (infact, it was hanging off), i just tarted it up with a bit of fibreglass. I'm thinking you're the proud current owner...

If you are, I want first dibs if you decide to sell, i've a 7 year old son who still thinks a friend is looking after "his" car...
