Have picked up my BX

Post by nigel »

Hi everyone,

Just picked up my BX. Due to the stuffed clutch we traileredd it home with the help of a mates 351 ci Ford LTD. Was a great site with the big old girl towing the little Citroen home through Sydneys afternoon peak hour traffic.

Shes in my garage and safe now. Next week will have to find time to get the clutch out.

If you've never done one before, may I suggest removing the rad to do the clutch? It's quite quick and easy and gives you 100times more access to the FDV etc. Really speeds things up and aids access.

Nice car BTW. White ph2's always look good!

Thanks for the advice kitch.

Just started her. She starts easily, couldnt see any hydraulic leaks but shes leakind a bit of coolant. Will get under her later to find where it is.

On the negative side of issues it has, the alternator light never comes on so I can observe it go out. Suspect blown bulb as the batterry voltage when runnung is 14.3 volts. ABS light never comes on either. Hoping its a bulb also. Cant complain as I got it for next to nothing. The engine appears strong and it seems like it was looked after up until 12 months ago when the clutch went and the owner just parked it.

Yeah the BX is not beautiful in the way that a DS or even a CX is. The looks do grow on you. The body kit, rear wheel arch covers, intergrated spoiler and sloping rear roof do grow on you.

Im glad I have now have a BX16V. I wanted one as a teenager and now I finally have one.

If it is the bulb, perhaps you should still here the ABS system do it's self check. Turn the ignition on and listen, you should here a clicking sound after a couple of seconds. That is when the bulb would ordinarily go out.

Always liked the Alpine white, looks nice and sporty.
Prefer it to the Lamborghini, like Signor Gandini!

Looks like a good find you've got there :D

It's got a sunroof, so it's not one of the ex-racing :?: batch that didn't have one.

Keep us updated.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys.

Unfortunately the BX 16V is an underappreciatted beast in Australia as some of you may already know. Most people Ive met dont even have the faintest idea what it is.

Was going to get the gearbox out this weekend but its postponed :( . Wife and I have been treated to a weekend away :) .

Again thanks for the encouragement. Its a great site and I will be asking many more questions and providing updates on the BX.
