The last 16V in Britain...

Post by jayw »

We all now the figures are never completely accurate but according to http://howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/citroen_bx_16v There is only one BX 16V left in the UK! The more odd thing is it's an '86???

Who here has one of the rare "16V" registered ones?

Fortunately, there is a massive 116 GTi-16V's left on the books, although more than 3-qtrs of them are SORN.

Did we decide that these were the CAT equiped cars :?:

The year is totally wrong, which doesn't give me total confidence in the accuracy of the rest of the data but it is a good guide and indicator to the low level of these cars.

I was always under the impression that it was the later cars that dropped the "GTi" moniker to help lower insurance costs, bur there is speculation on BXC that they were the early ones!?

The Zx16v on Ebay looked a very nice example . I've fortunately got one of the last 18 roadworthy examples . They do occasionaly come up for sale but are getting harder to come by .

The GTi badge was only on the first cars, 1987 and maybe into 1988. I have literature dated from them that backs this up.

My 1987 meteor grey 16V is badged as "Bx GTI 16V" and my 1988 white 16V is "Bx 16 Valve". This logic has also been constant with other early Phase 1 cars that I have owned.

The V5 will say something different.

Here is a good example of this:

Adrian's is the silver '87 car and mine is the white '88.

So basically there will be some P2 cars with gti 16 v on V5 .Typical of DVLA although i'm not too sure whether new supplying dealer is responsible for info as in reality DVLA i assume have no control over car titles
