Two unopposed wins yesterday have netted us the Motorsport News Modified Saloon championship Class E title (subject to the usual official confirmation). The rescheduled round 7 found many drivers in all classes on holiday, away on business etc leaving Bertie to score 48 points and extend his lead to 61 points. There is one round to go, the max number of points available is 58.

We went out at the weekend and picked up a 3rd and a 2nd in class (21st & 15th overall). Due to a strange set of circumstances Bertie finished 10th overall in the championship. This is the third year in a row we've made the top ten.

Bertie is hanging up his driving gloves as far as Motorsport News championship is concerned. We hope to persuade him to do the CSCC Special Saloon series.

CSCC Special Saloons are at Silverstone on May 1st. Bertie has been entered. We'll probably be lapped a gazillion times by the frontrunners who will possibly include the famous Thundersaloon Carlton and the Morris Brothers Fast Car Pug 309 to name a couple. Last time we did one of these events the races were won by an absolutely fabulous Porsche 935. There is a ticket deal available if you want to come along for just a fiver each!

Looks like tough competition next week - 4 Escorts, 2 Anglias, 2 MGs, Fast Car Pug, Supra Turbo, RX7, Lotus, etc plus a 6.2 litre Morris Minor, I kid you not.

Damn those front runners are quick. The double race winning space frame Moss Motorsport Anglia averaged nearly 95 mph for each of the races at Silverstone compared to 77 mph for Bertie in the first and nearly 80 mph in the second. Problems with the clutch and fading brakes slowed us in race 1 and add to that we suffered a couple of oil leaks. Race 2 was easier with only brake problems in the last few laps. The difference showed in our race time where Bertie completed 13 laps nearly 30 seconds quicker in the second event.

Next outing Brands Hatch June 5th.

There is a little film on youtube showing the cars going out for qually. Type in silverstone special saloons 2016.

I think it has more to do with the anti roll bar set up than the spheres.
