Crank sensor location

Post by mac1776 »

Hi All, please can someone let me know where to find the crank sensor, Haynes manual states it’s under the ignition coil , I’ve had a quick look to no avail.

Its pointing at the teeth on the fly wheel and mounted onto the gearbox. I think its mounted further back than under the ignition coil, under the HP pump. Seem to think its a bit of an arse to get to, albeit straight forward.

Hi Vanny, thanks again, All replaced now, I think Dave_16v has possibly found a problem, the fuel delivery to the fuel rail has been incorrect since I got the car, someone had obviously had a look prior to me taking over and the fuel supply pipe enters at the regulator end which is incorrect. I will transpose the pipes over then let the fire brigade know before I try and start her up!!!
Your advice is much appreciated, kind regards Mac

That sounds very promising!

I have been loosely following on the BXC, its a little bit more frequented than this ghost town, although neither forum is a touch on the Facebook BXC group. I'll just keep propping this place up until I see sense!

I look in here just as much. IMO, this is the place to be as far as 16v's go. With BX's finally gathering more classic status it would be a shame to lose it after so many years and even though it is 16v specific a lot of information applies to the range.
I appreciate there are some costs though.

Don't worry about the costs, they sort themselves.

It is a good point though, I've seen 3 valves crawl out of the woodwork on eBay in the last month. There is certainly a trend for getting them back on the road. Even DanB resurfaced. Maybe your right, longer term it might pick up. Either way, like the car, it's become a bit Stockholm syndrome for me, I don't want to give up on my captor(s)!

That is very apt for many.

I don't think Mac will mind (especially if his car starts )
