Got a new stainless steel exhaust system

Post by Mike P »

Spent 90 minutes shivering in the cold this morning but was worth it watching the new full stainless steel Powerflow system being fitted to the Bx :D

The new system comprises of a front silencer in the standard position, pipe to replace the cross box and a back box with 3" rolled outwards tail pipe (same as the one I'm now selling I like it that much).

Has a nice burble to it at idle and sounds sweet at full chat already, can't wait until it beds in, burns the wadding a bit and gets louder. It is a bit noisier inside the cabin due to there being no cross box now but this doesn't bother me as the car isn't a daily runaround.

Very nice 8)

Subtle, but purposeful at the same time.

Have you noticed and difference to the car's power? I've just had my SS down pipe removed for the std item, which has increase pull in the 2000rpm+ range.

No not really, only done 17 miles in it so far

I wouldn't expect to notice any gains if I was honest. Have retained the standard downpipe and joined the new stainless system after the centre baffle plate ends.

If I haven't lost anything then I'll be happy :D

Quick update,

Have now done 100 miles in the car with this exhaust, and it's getting bloody loud :!:

Has a quiet but promising burble at idle but on cam at 5000rpm sounds awesome. I've been going everywhere around the village in 2nd and 3rd, there aren't any more gears higher than that are there :?: :D

It hasn't made the car feel any quicker but has given me something more than that - a renewed interest in the car :!:
It's been parked up for 6 months since I moved house in September and now that I've unleashed it on the B roads this week, I've remembered what it is that I love about the car.

Imagine the scene - Me in the inside lane at a set of lights and up pulls a 325 with two lads and a pair of biatches in the back. Lights change and he pulls away sharpish. Just floored it and pulled away and made him look stupid as he had to break and tuck in way behind me as the 2nd lane fed into mine.

Straight after that, overtook a 52 plate 160 MG TF who decided she would try and glue herself to my tailights up the A road home. A series of roundabouts and 1/2 mile straights inbetween them and she was long seen off, probably cursing that "£500 piece of old scrap"
