Well, first the car is much happier now with some fresh petrol than it was when Vanny drove it. I drove it 20 miles to Warwick for an MOT and the temp sensor stayed at 90 except when stuck in traffic (max at 105 but still rising). It didn’t seem to cope as well with the cooler morning start (tickover 2500rpm giving me 40 mph on tickover). Settled down again when warm. Starting to be fun to drive again, but MOT emissions mean the fun stops June 5th.

Garage didn’t bother replacing the sensor and I didn’t worry about it so much on the way back.

They suggested I need a new cat and some welding doing, also a new air flow meter, which worried me when I saw on the site just how many problems could cause the same symptoms. Vanny is not so sure all this is entirely correct (Lambda sensor not cat) and is still helping me off this thread, which I'm very grateful about!

Hopefully there will be some more answers Friday.
