Leakage!!!!

Post by Timmo »

up at pops yesterday and thought i best fire the Ol' Girl up as its not been started for 6 months!
well fired up straight away which was pleaseing, rose up fine too, was having a look around and checked underneath only to notice the dreaded dripping!
Now, its more of a slow torrent than a drip and is coming off the back of the sump and around the lower engine mount (Cars facing down hill a bit),
Now i Think its a low pressure return pipe?? had one go before and was similar place etc, just after your views as wo which it might be and how easy a repair it'll be?? next time i'm up at it will most likely be to drive it home so dont really want to spend best part of the day Faffin g underneath it!! although being french will most likely turn out to be that way hahahah!

would be grateful for all pointers and ideas!!

mnay thanks in advance,

Timmo.

Leak

Post by citro-geoff »

Hi Timmo,

I will be down there next weekend, bringing Hayley and Luke down for the holiday. Will it still be OK to bring the seats down for a bit of Timmo magic!!! I can also have a look at the leak for you. Do you have any ramps? I will ring later today for a chat. Got to fit a new water pump to the caravan!! Geoff

don't believe what the heretics say, the octopie are reasonably easy to change, dirty mucky job, but one i've done in a couple of hours in a carpark in salford with limited tools! If you can manage it, take the front wheels off when jacked up as it affords a little more wiggling room for the legs.

To back up vanny about the octopus, me and my dad have just changed one on a 1.9d estate we've just bought, did it in 2 hours. Take the plastic arch lining out on the drivers side too to make the thing more visible - allows you to stick your head in the arch to see it properly. From where you're decribing the leak to be coming from, it sounds like the octopus, it goes all over the right hand side of the car at the front.

Check around the height corrector first, may be the return has popped out. To change the octopus ,removing the RHS d'shaft will make the job easier on yr knuckles.
