Driveshaft

Post by Anonymous »

I decided to repair my BX after a long time (I' ll write about in the projects section). I found out that I need a right driveshaft.
Can I use a driveshaft from a 8v or plain 1.6 or 1.9 BX?
ABS is not a problem as I don't use it.

shafts

I could be wrong but I thought all the BE1/BE3 shafts were the same apart from the ABS ring.

All shafts are physically interchangeable except early suitcase engines, all 1.9 Gti and TD are fine and exactly the same, some of the 1.6 and normal D use smaller CV joints, but the inner shaft is the same on most, for reference if your using second hand and mixing and matching, some TDs around J reg have a different no of splines so don't just hammer hem on......
Most CVs are Ok after a cleaning anyway and if getting recons be wary on quality, some that are Ok for a cheap TD aren't built for 100MPh plus! and the cv gaitors on recons are Sh*t, swap them for genuine or Meilor ones from GSF
