Bx 16v Alternator Fitment

Post by claytonmangion »

Well Basically My friend has bought an mi16 for himself . The trouble is that he removed the alternator and cant seem to get it back in properly . What is happening is the ear is getting stuck with the inlet manifold when we try to re-tension the belt (SAME OLD BELT). I tried al types of fitment but yet none of them work . I also uploaded some pictures for you guys to see at a clearer view . Hope someone can point me in the right direction . Cheers

Hello there,

Cannot see from the photographs clearly but the lug (ear) looks too high. This should, as you know, sit alongside the tensioner slide and using the special bolt be pulled up to the correct height. I'm wondering if the tensioner has been incorrectly positioned.

Paste this link into your web bowser and navigate to page 43. You'll see how the tensioner goes together.

Links reposted and sorry for the earlier broken links . The problem is that mine has one half cut lug , the other for the tensioner and the other one is messing with the manifold . I really dont know how the previous owner had fit the alternator but what I know is that I Really need some help!
