Not just you, I just replaced my short one that broke with a nice long one. I didn't bother trimming the outer housing at all. It comes up behind the camgears around the head, along the fuel rail, out around the coolant reservoir and onto the throttle. Looks a bit naff but I don't care.

The old one came in pretty much a straight line over the head from the pedal to the throttle so I think it's a big improvement.

Pattern part per chance? The genuine Citroen part used to be longer, but i've found the pattern parts are always too short. I believe there is a 405 option that has a longer cable, but i'm not sure which (if any specific) model you have to order for.

There is a supplier in the back of practical classic magazine (and probably classic car weekly) that will make up any cable to any length. Though i suspect it might be quicker to nip to halfords and buy a shimmano cable kit?
