Turbo rebuilders?

Post by RichL »

Anyone know a good place in Essex / South East to get a Garrett turbo rebuilt? The one on my Seat TDi appears to have died (no power, grinding noises, clouds of smoke).
I might be able to source one from a breakers for £150, otherwise I've been quoted circa £450 for a rebuild or £600 for a new one.

I'm missing my BX :(
It might have an old 16v engine shoehorned into a small engine bay, it might have funny oil filled suspension, electronics with one wiring colour throughout and typical gallic build quality, but it was a damn sight cheaper and easier to fix than my modern VW sub-brand!
Bloody sight more fun to drive too!

AND I know if it breaks in an unusual and interesting way, I can come here and someone can probably tell me how to fix it, rather than "Is it under warranty?" or "Take it to the dealers." ;)
