Good to see somebody trying something different and radical.

All the best with this and will keep track on the 205 site.

Although I am slightly concerned that this will mean twice as many 16v's being Pugged

well that's simple - i'm not one of those people who'd kill a perfectly good 405 / BX just for it's engine! :)

the first came out of a 405 to be replaced with a diesel :( so i have given it a new lease of life actually :D,
while the other one was imported as just engine from abroad by scrapyard to start with... sattisfied? 8)

ok people, here's an update :).

previously we've seen the 205 developing a hole in the boot:

in this episode the hole gets transformed into suspension turrets and we have a guest star appearance too (me :D).

61 new pic, so take a look and let me know your thoughts.

does the car have to go through any sort of testing before your allowed to put it on the road? Im just wondering how well the welded up safety cage would go down in the UK with the SVA, i suspect they would really throw there toys out of the pram! Should it not have been sleeved?

I cant get over how good a fit the engine bay is into the rear of the car (i guess not a huge surprise as the rear is fatter that the front on a 205), its like a totally perfect fit! Ar you going to have it rear wheel steer as well??

hi Vanny :),

well when you build a kit car, there's a sheet that shows that it's been
built to meet already approved requirements i guess so you only need
to do the SVA and MOT test. what we're going to do is get it atested and
road-legal based on a fact that this is the first 205 with such a conversion
(especially here) and our car will be the base on which that sheet will be
based, specifying the requirements any other twin-engined car would
need too meet ;), such as thorough strengthening, full roll cage, brakes
and suspension upgrades all round etc. ofcourse, it will be able to fly
the MOT on brakes, emissions and other stuff so that's not a problem.
also, the car will be pre-registered to a 2-seater and the rear engine
will be noted as an additional equipment for racing and not for normal
road usage. don't know if anything i said makes any sense though, lol.

the rear isn't fatter really, you see that we've had to cut out the inner
skin from the rear end but we also made all the possible efforts to make
it a nice and tight fit. it's easier to do this sort of thing on cars that already
have rear turrets (like golf) as you don't need to do what we have done.

no 4 wheel steering as that is unneccessary and would be over the top.

thanks.

time for another update folks :).

in the third and final episode of Phase 1 series, named "Hit the road, Pug!", our main character gets
a lick of paint, some nice bits installed on it, gets back on the ground and leaves the spot cruising
on the back of a flat-bed lorry :).

this update (52 pics) starts with the last pic on THIS PAGE and covers about 8 days of work.

so... after nearly 3 weeks of hard work... Phase 1 - Rear End Reconstruction is complete! :D

stay tuned for the forthcoming Phase 2 - Rear Engine Installation story 8).

thanks.
