yeh cat cams is one option, i have heard tell that i will be ok just replacing the inlet cam and cat cams do supply just the 275 inlet so alot of people must be doing it, what cams you running luke?

cams

Post by Toddman »

I have the piper regrinds but opinions are very varied on them but the racer ran them for a while and I saw real gains from them but if doing the work now I would defo be tempted by catcams - I may even swap the pipers for some before I get the proper remap sorted but we shall have to see.

Do you have the 2L iron block with the smaller valved head in your ZX or have you got the late vts/GTi-6 lump? I may have asked you thid before :D

Cheers

mine is the 2.0 cast block with the mi16 type head, this has bigger inlet valves and valve guides to the gti6 head although the gti6 head does have larger exhaust valves also apparently the earlier engine had an oul spray bar on the underside of the pistons which the gti6 bottom end didnt have, im yet to take the gti6 engine apart to see if this is correct but this is what i have been told and it would account for the no of gti6's having bottom end problems maybe

hi there,
looks from the photo that you had timing belt failure at some point judging by the valve teeth marks on the pistons.
