Dead.

Definately a write off.

Went up to leeds, 100miles north of me, to fix a forum member's car after he backed his car into a low brick wall and bent the rear suspension and cracked the rear subframe.

Forgot the thread lock. Chucked him the keys to my bx and suggested he go get some. 10mins later his wife came out and told me there had been an accident......

Taxi had pulled out in front of him. Nothing he could do. Taxi driver has admitted liability but I'm struggling to get any details out of him at the mo.

Managed to drive it home after some additional bodywork modificatation but the front strut and subframe is bent.

Sorry guys.

F**king taxi drivers! The ones round here are just as bad. That is fixable but again its the cost, mind you Vannys breaking that grey one so that could donate some parts?

Its not just the cost of parts, its the time as well.

Also given that the subframe has been pushed back and is had up against the bulkhead, I think the chassis leg has started to collapse too.

OUCH!!!

If he's being difficult your insurance company only need his registration no. to retrieve his insurance details, hopefully he'll have some. If all goes well and he is insured please don't accept anything less than £700 as a write off valuation, that's the least your going to need to replace it with anything half decent They will pay up if you stick to your guns, I know, I've had to do it twice recently.

Good luck with the negotiations

If it gets awkward get in touch with accident exchange, there a free helpline that are recoup any costs from the otherparty, we use them at work and they are very good.

If the taxi driver gets awkward just report them for dangerous driving!

At least hopefully you may have taken one of the MOST mundane cars on the road out, the Toyot Avensis!

I've used accident exchange twice in the last 12 months and agree they're very good.

Been in contact with his insurance company and have just had the assesors on the blower to arrange a viewing tomorrow. So the process is moving along.
