Anyone recognise these wheels?

Post by robin hughes »

Hi All,

I bought these wheels around 9 years ago from an ex citroen mechanic who had them on a bx meteor and was told they are a genuine aftermarket citroen alloy??. They are 14's and personaly i think they look more like compromotives??. I have got the wheel centres but they have no badging on anymore.

Ive just recently dug these out with a view to having them recon'd and fitted to the 16v as im sick of the hardness of 17's  .

Anyone recognise them????

rims

They look a pretty common style Robin I had some on one of my MK3 escorts.
You should be able to find a manufacturers stamp on the back of the rim or in the area where the centre cap fits.

They do look like Compomotives though but could also be some
Taiwan copies.......

BTW do 17in really fit in without fouling the bodywork and what size tyres are u using. I have a few sets of rims 17in (OZ Superleggera)
16in (TSW) and 15in (VAlbrem) and intend to try and fit them onto the
16valver to enhanch the looks.

Hi There,

yes 17's go straight on but some people as a precaution trim a little bit off the rear arch bodykit.

I cant seem to find a makers name on the rims as they are covered in years and years of dirt and brake dust however they are made in england which is stamped on the back of the rim. :?

Possibly Astrali, if they're not Wolfrace or similar? Just trying to think of UK manufacturers......

if you have a look on the main site here i am pretty sure luke had the genuine accesories catalogue for download, may give you some help???

17's look the nuts on the bx and really do suit it but they are very harsh on the ride due to the reduced sidewall flex and bounce of that from a std rim!

compomotive's would look the nuts on the valver! Would have loved to have found soem when i was looking for rims when i bought those 17's but as with anything, never any when you want them!!!
also rob,. as a bonus for you, compo's would be a ford fit too! and req a spacer for the cit, they would look good on the rs too!
but thats all a little besides the point as yo ualready have the 14 lookylike's!
just thinking out loud loL!

refurbing wise, its an easy diy job!
