Who's on the road (or could be), who is Not?

Post by Dave »

It appears to be a little quiet on the site over recent months. I still visit this fantastic site regulary and log in now and then even if not adding anything (I think this helps Luke?).

I thought it would be good to have an update on who actually has their car on the road. Mine is not. It runs fine but I have a few parts to put on. Got them in the boot, new rear abs lead, rear discs and pads, various spheres (the latter bought on impulse off ebay).

I need to spend a bit of time on her at some point but weather is rubbish and then time is not always right.

So, where is everyone at?

Am in a similar position, check here regularly, and took the beastie for a drive over the weekend and its still great, but its currently untaxed due to financial considerations - like having 3 other vehicles! but after my spin i miss it - so will be taxing it asap!

Mine is being prepped for MOT at the moment, just got new wheels for it and need two tyres plus the mapping still needs finishing to pass emissions. getting very hard to afford the upkeep, tax is about £200, MOT is about £50 and insurance is £800 and thats before the car has even been driven and enjoyed! I still check on here but dont have much in the way of updates as lack of money is making things very slow moving

Know you all mean by costs. Unless you intend to use it for a good while rather than keep it in abeyance as a project , it is costly to pay out on tax, insurance and mot's just for fun.

hey folks,
well i've still got my 3 valvers. woohoo! my silver ph2 that was my origional project is still in my garage after 5 years, but after taking on 2 more nicer ones it has been de-moted to spares cos i couldn't afford to keep 3 of them taxed etc. but my ph1 which is my big project with the nos etc is still on-going, its been very slow cos cash is tight the noo with the mortgage but mainly cos im still banned! but on a positive note i get it back in 2 months so im sure i will get stuck in again when i can drive. although it is still mot'd but just no tax. finally the last ph2 black valver is sitting awaiting a pipe repair, i have the piping etc there just still not done it yet. tbh i think i've lot my steam for fixin them through being banned but im sure it'll come back.

cheers rossco

i've got two months till the MOT and quite a bit of work to do. Just back on the rad yesterday night after a rebuild of the intake system as a result of sorting out my leaking FDV (leaking from theside and from an intake pipe) so now the rather humorous car has sprung another leak from somewhere else, and still needs the pipes doing before the MOT (4.5mm pipe s changed, other front to rears remain),

Well mine is used everyday. Just changed discs and pads the other day (brembo max and ferodo premier). Have a little problem with the abs for sometime, got to solve that.

Mines back on the road after a 10 month rebuild.
I dont use it everyday, but usually use it for a week then use the TD for a couple of weeks before getting the valver out again.

Still needs a bit of fetlling and some paint here and there, but if I ever actually totally finished it I think I'd get bored, I like having things to tinker with!

valver

Post by Toddman »

My aim is to have the white valver MOT'd and taxed for August :D
Spent some time getting her ready this week the usual changing of headlamp bulbs and cleaning out of washer spray bar for the MOT and need a set of blades then up to my mate for a new exhaust box and a test.

Then a fortune in insurance nad tax just for a few days out to shows but it is always worth it 8)

Cheers

Mines not on the road at the mo either am affraid! just simply wasnt using it! and witht he tax due at the end of November i decided to take it of for the winter, although doubtful it will come back soon! its in for mot in the next coupl eof weeks (shifting it up tp brothers this week so Mechaninc can take it in for me!) - cars up at Fathers tucked up safe and sound on the drive! although its 45 mins drive away so has been somewhat neglected!
would Love to be able to keep it on the road all the time but tax and running costs as they are and the little use it gets just doesnt warrant it at the mo! but done worry, its still insured and Mot'd Just incase they bring out a tax as you drive system!!!
