It's not relevant to us as this tax banding is being levvied only to cars built after er, some date in 2001.
Since even the very last of the BX's were M plate we'll only have to pay the usual inflationary increase on the current system.

hi lads, phew, glad i didnt read it right then! happy it wont affect us, i could never afford to pay out 2 lots of silly money. its costly as it is now, the government are really gonna rook some people with this. im a bit worried as i've just sold the gf's corsa for £750 and picked up a bmw 318 coupe or her, looks like she will have to fork out on tax a fair bit.

This whole new tax thing really exposes the fact that the government don't care about the environment, only raising taxes.
There is no 'harm' owning a thirsty car, only when it is driven does it use fuel. The tax on petrol is already sky high, and this is pay as you drive.
A large car at 30 miles a day and 30mpg makes no more CO2 than a small car at 50 miles a day and 50mpg.
Most large engined cars last longer than small cars.
The 'greenest' thing you can do is keep your existing car as long as possible, reducing demand for a new one to be made.
On average, older cars annually do lower milages than new cars.
I have recycled my BX already as most owners would have scrapped it years ago,but it got repaired.

You speak much sense Mike, and I've been saying the same thing for a long time.
But most of the populus are so apathetic the whimper and complain a bit, then just pay up..
Sad.

the taxing point is such now that the govt. now stopped reffering it to a Road Fund Licence and is now a Vehicle Excise Duty, gets them nicely away from all the where's th emoney going as its certainly not back into the roads!!
