She Failed

Post by cossie »

Took Iains 16v for its MOT today.
Failed on two points

Rear discs are pitted bad, need changing.Because the cars been sitting a while.
A slight oil leak on the steering rack.
Thats it,not bad for an 18 year old motor.
Looks like I got a job on.

Yup,I hope so.I'm going to change all discs and pads,as the braking was only 54%
I had the front pipe changed before the MOT,and the old one didnt have the siamise bit in it,maybe a GTI one?New ones got it though.
There is also somekind of leak to the steering rack????????? no idea as to where yet,or what pipes leaking.
And that was it.
Hope to get it in this week, for free retest.

Why do you need to undo the caliper bolts mate?
The disc will pass the jaw without removing the caliper..

That sounds good to me.Thanks for replying.
They dont need changing, but as we got an advisory on the front right disc,we bought them anyway.Taking the car back tomorrow, for a retest.I hope the efficiency is better than 54%,this time.

Cheers Clive

Nice one Clive :D
Your old front pipe will have been an aftermarket item the GTi pipe is quite a bit smaller diameter and shorter on the down run although you can get them to fit.
