Starter Motor

Can anyone tell me if a BX diesel,starter motor will fit and work on a 16v.A friend of mine is giving me one and I dont want to fit it if it dont work.Will I need to change the battery too?

All the Starters have the same basic fitting, I have found one particularly large old diesel one that hits something on a 16V, the manifold from memory. Xantia td one is a tiny whizzy one and is fab, just fitted one on blue racer

as long as the number of teeth on the starter are the same then yes it will work! iirc they will all fit but wether they are compatible due tot he teeth is a different matter!
TD starters run at 1.1hp compared to 0.9hp of the std starter, All helps get the lump spinning faster!

i have a zx Td starter on mine, local french spares place counted the teeth on a load of xantia ones and none matched but the zx one did! been spot on since fitting!

hiya, i will second that, i have a xantia 1.9 td starter in the red 16v and its much faster than the 16v one, it starts great, i would recommend it. :D

according to a quick count of the one in the shed its got 9 teeth! i thought it was 10 but counted it three times to make sure!

Thanks for that Timmo.A mate at work has a diesel one that he said I can have if it will fit my 16v.
I need to get it sorted as the car dont like to turn over when shes warm.When shes cold,she needs a lot of power to turn.
