Fitting Peugeot Nimrods on a BX
I've been asked by a Australian guy called Chris on how I fitted the Nimrods to my BX
Here is what I told him along with some pictures of my Car/wheels
Why 15 inch? they look crap,go for the 16 inch ones they will look much better.
.
I can't remember what the offset is of the 206 gti is because it was about 2 year ago when i did it,but i can remember the diffrence was -15mm but the closest hubcentric spacer you can buy is 16mm which is slightly better anyway as the wheels will sit slighty more outboard. The studs are easily available from Rally design, although the nuts are a big problem. You can buy wheel nuts easily but they are all have 60 degree tapered seats and O.E Peugeot wheels have a flat nut seating face so if you used them they would just dig into the wheels and cause damage. The design of Ford RS/Ghia nuts would work but the trouble is although they are M12 the Ford thread pitch is 1.5mm unlike Pug/Citroen which is 1.25mmThe only way around it is to get the wheel bolts off a 206/406 with nimrods and saw the treaded part off completely and then drill them 10.7 mm on a Laithe and tap them M12x1.5mm,also on a laithe to get the thread perfect. this way you can assure that they are secured to the car the way they are designed.Mine are great and work perfect
I can convert you a set of wheel bolts if you send me a set,but due to the amount of time it takes to due I'd have to charge you for my time.
good luck

Thanks Ian,
I've decided to pass on the 15's and I'm waiting for a set of 16's to become available. They really do look cracking in graphite with the polished lips.
Your information has been invaluable so far. Thanks for posting further pictures and information! I'm really looking forward to seeing your s/c valver come together! Such an inspiration.
Cheers,
Chris.

Re: Fitting Peugeot Nimrods on a BX
One thing to take note of. Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but in NZ tyre choice in 16" is absolutely crap and if you do find something good it will be far more expensive than it's 15" counter-part.badlyworntoy wrote:I've been asked by a Australian guy called Chris

Chris have you had any quotes for shipping to the Oz from the uk on a set of rims? they is a few sets of 16s for sale on ebay uk they avarage about £200 a set usually
1991 Citroen Bx 16v phase 2
1972 Vauxhall Viva HC 16v C20XE
1993 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R
1983 Vauxhall Chevette 2.0 Pinto
1991 Lada Riva (still having ideas)

No I haven't mate, I would think it would cost silly money to get wheels shipped here from the Uk. I'll keep an eye out around here but my priorities have changed somewhat. I think the nimrods might be a fair way down the track now, the car needs lots of work done in other places first. I'll start a project thread sooner or later, I'm just trying to restore it and get it registered first.
