BX brake pad question

Post by Mungous »

Why do so many reputable manufacturers list these pads as fitting the BX? EBC, Carbone Lorraine, etc...

Apart from EBC I Don't recognise the names of those manufacturers, are they southern hemisphere brands?
In UK the big brands like Ferodo, Mintex and Textar all list the proper no offset pads for BX, allthough it is getting harder to get them sometimes if you are fussy on make.
The others may be cross referencing the wrong way when compiling catalogues, as in theory at least they will fit as the lug arrangement is the same. and the outer part of the bendix caliper is the same on lots of other peugeot models.

EBC is a UK company, and Carbone Lorraine is French!

I am keen to trial fit a set of these to some BX calipers, as they are far more easily obtainable here in NZ - however I don't know what impact the missing backing plate nubs will have. I imagine it may have an impact on the operation of the handbrake, but if that's all I won't mind too much!

You could have ten different part numbers, all with the same actual pads inside the box, just with different pins/fittings etc.

So these pads fit in the BX calipers! They fit a fair few other Frenchies, including the 205 GTi 1.6 - so they're even available in Ferodo DS3000. That means my brakes might last a bit longer under race conditions!
