BX Engine noise?

Post by Tony1 »

Hi Everyone, my first logon and first post. I have always loved old/classic cars and have just bought my neighbours car at our old house in France, they live in the "big house" and have just reached the grand old age of 90 apiece, he has given up driving and i have loved his car since we bought the house next door.
It is a 1990 Citroen BX 1580cc 5dr Mulsanne, Ltd edition i believe, really clean and straight and the interior only needs a proper wipe over and a hoover, he was keen to show me even the radio works, so all good so far. However when on tickover there is a "knocking" noise seems to be a bit random not a regular beat and disappears when engine speed is increased, anyone got any suggestions?
I live in Shoreham Sussex, are there any relable BX repairers nearby. Thanks..

Sounds like the hydraulic pump and is perfectly normal.

That's me making the fairly modest assumption you're not accustomed to BX's!

Whilst your post here is very welcome, you will also find help at bxclub.co.uk which covers all models of the BX.
Now listen here you mullet...
