Sick of this F**king leaking 16v!!!!

Post by NZ16v »

hey guys, i am still around the place, and have just got my 16v back on the road. 2 years sittin, chucked a battery in, started first pop. fixed a small leak at the FDV, flew through her WOF (MOT). STOKED.

Now, before she was put away-in disgrace tbh, i had a bloody annoying leak letting water in when it rained. Traced it to a split in the front passenger hinge, which i thought i had solved.

Till it rained heavily again.

So i threw my toys, and put here away for a while.

Now, two years later, i forgot about the leak. Now the passengers footwell is full of water, and the interior is in a million bits. ANd i am seriously considering a can of petrol and a match.

Any suggestions? I am close to pulling the dashboard out.

I am 99% sure its not the sunroof- i have repeatedly cleaned out the drains, and had the trim around removed watching for any drips.

HELP!
Would rather be driving ONE 16v,than fixng TWO.

If you're certain it's not the sunroof and it appears to be coming from the dashboard area, I'm afraid the prognosis isn't good.

Remove the washer bottles from the scuttle and inspect what will (no doubt) be large rusted holes or seams.

It's a brave man that welds these up with the dash and soundproofing in situ. I've removed the lot in the past.

If this is your issue, I feel for you.
Now listen here you mullet...

I would also check the scuttle and remove all parts from that area to look for holes or split seams.

Good luck.

Update- tentatively fixed.

Back door- adjusted the door lock pin, cleaned seals, seems to be fixed.

Front door, well, grab a cuppa.

When i bought the car, the door drains were blocked, and had to repair some rust. No drama.

And I thought i would add a couple extra holes, so it wouldnt happen again. What a bloody tool.

One of the holes i drilled JUST touched on the bottom seal, which when it rained, allowed water to fill the crevasse, and enter the cabin.

Sealed it up properly, no more water.

Moral of the story- Citroen did a perfectly good job on the drains. And im an idiot. :D
