Electrical problem

Post by Niko9 »

Hi all, well today I tried getting car into my mates workshop . Cars been running fine parked up but moved it today and what a pain in the arse. Kept cutting out when trying to rev it seemed like air flow problem. But having to keep starting it to move it it cut out and lost ALL electrical power, even with jump leads on it as no power to anything. The only thing I can think of breaking down is a relay , any ideas please 😭😭😭😭

Maybe the ignition barrel has died?
Potentially the earth cable.
I don't think there is a relay that would cause a complete loss of electrical power, but the ignition barrel is a bloody big isolator switch

If you know the battery is good, try sticking a jump cable between battery negative and a clean bit of gearbox.

But my money is on ignition barrel

You've now got club members access so you should be able to get the wiring diagrams from the tech archive.

And if you want an answer in the same month, you might want to find the BXClub facebook group, thats where most of us hang out.

Except that I have to disturb years of carefully gathered dust just to find anything!

Worse still, answering your posts here reminded me how much I hated the near black back ground of the forum, so I fixed that. Then i remembered ho much it annoys me that the banner at the top doesn't resize, so I fixed that too.

What can i say, i play to an audience, even an audience of 1!

It appears to be 3 right now with yourself included so it is worth it. 😁
Prefer it to the Lamborghini, like Signor Gandini!
