16v project

Post by thanuttiscotsman »

hi folks,
you know i have just been thinking, i have had my valver for just over 1.5 years its done 52 miles and i have spent just over 4k. hhmmm still needs alot of work, at least it will get saved but i could have bought 4 taxed and mot'd ones for a grand each that all worked. but hey it is fun fixing them. only wish i was a bit richer. :( i drew up a list yeasterday and there is still about 23 or so repairs still to be done and a full re-spray to be paid for. oops  this project has almost gone over my target budget of 5k, im sure i will be about 1k over when im finnished. :?

well wish me luck. rossco

Good luck Rossco

If you have already spent 4k on it thats gotta be potentialy one of the best valvers in the UK. Awesome.

The way I look at projects is as a hobby, Ive got mates which spend around the same amount of cash per year on going to see football games (tickets, traveling, beers etc) but at the end of the day dont own anything from it.

You will not only get the satifaction of restoring a car but will be left with a minter :D

Are you spraying it yourself? Thank would save a chunk

Cheers
Adie

I like the purchase of the £1k stereo system before the cars on the road :D

Is that why you've bought 2 new batteries, draining and killing them using the stereo whilst working on the car :?: :D

mike that is exactle true!! my batteries go flat all the time. thats why in my garage i have 1 normall 8 amp slow charger and 1 rac trickle, rapid charge or switch to 150 amp boost starter/charger + my generator to power it all, + i also have one of those battery box things with boost leads but its quite crap. spent over 1000 quid on the stereo and its over 1000w's output. after the addition of lukes rear pillar speakers my car is jumping around the car park.

hi 16vadie,
iam thinking about spraying it myself but if i give that a try i will buy or rent an air compressor this time as last time went a bit tits up. but im confident about doing it with a compressor. that way will save me about 700 quid
