Car has been off the road for some of the time but the car is still running ok, not been caining it tho as the big end shells are new.
Only draw back with the chip i can find is that the car really does not like 95ron fuel anymore, to be expected i guess.

Interesting. Does it run worse on 95 than it used to then?

Maybe you could have a 95 ron ECU and a 98 ron one, swap them depending on what you fill up with :D

Evan before the chip change it used to pink sometimes on 95ron, but now it is chipped and the igniton is slightly advanced it really don't like it but is fine on 98ron, But remember these cars were designed to run on leaded petrol.

As for having 2 ECU's spose you could have 1 with a std chip and 1 with the after market chip and then swop them over but what a PITA that would be.

i have noticed that since chipping mine the bx doesnt seem to run that well on standard unleaded even though ive got a knock sensor fitted!. it will idle fine for a while and every now and again hunt then return to normal. When using higher octane rated unleaded it doesnt do this and pulls like a train. My escort rs turbo also doesnt like standard unleaded as on full boost it pinks like mad and some time detonates eventhough the fueling has been set for a modified car (running higher than standard boost) again higher octane doesnt give this problem  but hurts the wallet so for now its tescos finest

I guess the ideal thing to do is use super unleaded (98ron) and a lead additive, i have been using redex lead substitute but when that runs out i will be using castrol valve master(iirc) which also has an octane booster aswell.(which was recomended to me)

just mail him Rossco, he can only say no, just make sure you get the right one for your ECU ie 2 row or 3 row.

I was about to ask if using a lead additive would be better. What about LRP?

Sainsbury's does 97 pretty cheap.
